Summary:
The Mistle Thrush is the largest Thrush species of the British Isles. It resembles the more common Song Thrush but is generally lighter in colour and lacks the yellowish flanks. It also stands straighter and taller. There is little difference between the sexes.
Ecology:
The Mistle Thrush has a particular liking of the berries of Mistletoe, from which it gets its name. It will noisily defend any fruiting bush it happens to find. It builds a cup shaped nest of twigs and grass in a tall tree and feeds mainly on fruits, insects and molluscs.
Habitat:
Woodland, heath.
Distribution:
Throughout the British Isle except the far north.
